DERT seeking Expressions of Interest for Defence Site Maribyrnong

DERT is seeking Expressions of Interest from parties that are prequalified for the Stage 2B Expression of Interest stage of the Defence Site Maribyrnong sales process who would like to explore the possibility of a commercial arrangement for the remediation and redevelopment of the site.

DERT is a joint venture between OPEC Systems and Liberty Industrial that has been strategically established to combine the capabilities of two of Australia’s most progressive remediation companies to provide leading edge, comprehensive, large scale site remediation and demolition services for complex contaminated sites.

The DERT joint venture between OPEC Systems and Liberty Industrial has the capability to remediate Defence Site Maribyrnong and was one of only five parties to successfully prequalify with the Department of Defence when they tendered a Request for Expression of Interest for the remediation of the site in 2016. Defence subsequently withdrew their approach to market and are currently undertaking a Registration of Interest/Expression of Interest process for the sale of the site.

Stage 2A in the sale process – Registration of Interest – is now complete. All submissions have been assessed against a range of benchmark requirements, and interested parties have been notified of the outcome. Parties who submitted a successful Registration of Interest have been notified and invited to participate in the Stage 2B Expression of Interest stage of the sales process, which will commence in early 2019.

DERT is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from those companies that are prequalified for the Stage 2B Expression of Interest stage of the sales process who would like to explore the possibility of a commercial arrangement for the remediation and redevelopment of the site.

DERT General Manager, David Wood said “DERT has developed significant Intellectual Property surrounding both the project and the physical site over years of existing contract works and being directly involved in the previous EOI process and subsequent shortlisting.”

“DERT is a 100% Australian owned company. We can offer the potential developer a fully integrated and fully flexible solution to the highly complex demolition and remediation aspects of the Maribyrnong site.”
